Responsibilities
  • Requires the ability to work from complex assembly drawings, use a variety of hand, pneumatic and electric power tools, welding equipment, positioners, pressure regulators, etc. WMust follow T00505-1 for proper fastener tightening and demonstrate proper use of a torque wrench
  • Cut, bend, thread, and assemble pipe
  • Mount and assemble compressor units, and fit-up piping and tubing of various sizes and configurations. Make up special brackets lay out and drill mounting locations and assemble units. Weld frames, bases, brackets, and other structural welding.
  • Align and mount motors and compressors using all associated tools and instruments.
  • Mount gauges and instruments. Perform leak tests as required per T35064.
  • Evacuate assemblies as required and install holding charge
  • Must be certified to weld with the following processes:
  • Must be able to utilize applicable measuring gauges
  • Participate on cross-functional teams to address and resolve quality issues and problems, and to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.
  • Organize and complete as necessary the required paperwork for the package units
  • Upon successful completion of required training, use cranes, jibs, and hoists to position/move work.
  • Must conform to labor standards on a consistent basis. Per the union contract, the employee shall maintain productivity efficiencies in line with expectations.
  • Train lesser qualified employees to meet requirements efficiently.
  • Must be proficient in all phases of out of position welding using procedures required by ASME code and Vilter standards.
  • Ability to work closely with other employees including engineering on a daily basis in a professional manner.
  • Must attend, understand and participate in WPS and ASME training.
  • Maintain continuity log
Requirements
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move parts and equipment weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds - never to exceed 50 lbs.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Requires ability to work from complete assembly drawings, use a variety of hand and power tools and a broad knowledge of refrigerants such as ammonia, Freon, etc. As well as welding, torch cutting, cutting, and fitting pipe.
  • Experience of at least five years is necessary.
  • Must be certified to weld with the following processes:
    • SMAW (Stick)
    • FCAW (flux-core)
    • GMAW (STT root pass)
    • GTAW (Tig)
