Maintain all pretreatment, post-treatment and plating (and stripping) solutions at recommended operating parameters (i.E., concentration, temperature, visual appearance etc.), so they are operational for production at all times. This is evidenced by documented analytical, statistical and visual methods, and most importantly the quality and consistency of the production parts processed.
Scheduling and control of bath preventative maintenance which includes, but is not limited to filtration and carbon treatment of solutions, electrolytic purification (dummying), tank cleaning, new make-ups, anode cleaning and replenishment and any special treatments required, etc.
Maintaining the analysis schedule and assuring that bath additions are made on a timely basis. These additions should be made on a small and frequent basis to minimize variation of control parameters.
Routine analysis and documentation of contaminants in all plating solutions should be done at least twice monthly using the AA unit, some critical baths may require more frequent testing.
Troubleshooting and proactive prevention of problems that adversely affect the quality of production parts.
Documentation and logging, etc., of test results and other lab functions.
Inspection and thickness testing as required.
Generating Certificates of Compliance (Certs), as required.
Coordination, follow up and communication with other plant personnel (Management, Waste Treatment, Maintenance, Operators, etc.) and suppliers as required to perform the duties and responsibilities of the QC Lab Technician.
Operation, Maintenance, Calibration and Documentation of all Laboratory test equipment (i.E., AA Unit, XRF, Salt Spray Cabinet, Permascope, Kocour Tester, Magna gage, Calibration Standards, etc.) and training of operators in use of such equipment if required.
Maintaining a safe inventory level of lab supplies, reagents, Hull Cell panels, etc.
Daily analysis of grab samples of our wastewater discharge to assure 100% compliance with our discharge permit.
Weekly Flow Proportional Sampling using the ISCO FPC sampler, analysis and sample preservation and storage of samples.
Monthly collection, labeling, documentation and preservation of FPC and Grab samples to be sent to DNR approved Laboratories for Self Monitoring Reports.
Maintain the Salt Spray Cabinet and perform Salt Spray Tests in Accordance with ASTM B-117 Requirements, and documentation of such.
Monthly collection, labeling, documentation and shipping of samples of all plating solutions to outside vendor s labs for analysis. May be done more frequently as circumstances dictate.
Schedule and document any new bath make-ups. Maintain a calendar which lists when new make-ups are made.
Sampling, Testing and documentation of surface tension, etc. Of the Decorative Chrome bath for Chrome MACT Compliance. Maintenance and calibration of the DuNouy Tensiometer.
Perform the duties of the Assistant Chief Operator as outlined in Section 14 of the Wastewater Pretreatment & Hazardous Waste Procedures Operations Manual .
Perform the duties of the QC Lab Technician and adhere to the policies as outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual .
Special projects as assigned by the management of Wisconsin Plating.
Completion of Hazardous Waste Manifests and label forms for waste pick-ups.
Maintain a Binder containing the operational data sheets for all pretreatment, post-treatment, plating and stripping solutions along with standard analysis procedures for such.
Maintain all operation manuals for all testing equipment and standards.
Submit all analysis results to management weekly for review and entering into the SPC program.
