FINANCIAL CLERK
General Summary:
Performs a variety of moderately complex accounting activities related to the payment and receipt of money; computes, classifies, and records numerical data into the accounting system. Applies the GAAP principles of accounting. Compiles financial information, processes journal entries, reconciles and creates reports and financial data. Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Exercises independent judgment in the processing and resolution of non-routine accounting matters. Possess knowledge and ability to use Sage 50 (Peachtree) Quantum Accounting, Excel and Microsoft Office, accounting software. Experience with SAP a plus.

Essential Job Functions:
Compiles financial information and prepares reports.

Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Keeps abreast and applies the laws and regulations that apply to current job functions with professional expertise to maintain up-to-date compliance.

Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts; prepares monthly financial statements, including distributing monthly financial reporting to corporate international offices.

All accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, with collections abilities.

The maintenance of inventory as it relates to the accounting software and Excel spreadsheet reports to support the balance.

Reconcile all monthly bank accounts and have the ability to perform online banking transactions such as vendor ACH payments and check deposits.

Assist with the preparation of the annual tax returns and all yearly audit reporting requirements.

Oversees customer onsite paper machine service provided by company technicians and the billing for these services.

Provides information to staff, customers, vendors, sales reps, auditors or organizations outside of the company; explains accounting transactions; resolves accounting issues and discrepancies.

Uses various software applications, such as Excel spreadsheets, to assemble, manipulate and/or format data, maintains pivot tables, charts, graphs and/or reports.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Scope of Responsibility:
Knows the formal and informal company goals, standards, policies and procedures, which may include some familiarity of the manufacturing within the company. Is sensitive to the interrelationship of both people and functions within the company.

Decision Making:
On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.

Authority:
Directs the cooperative activities of two office staff members.

Communication:
Exchanges non-routine information using tact and persuasion as appropriate requiring good oral and written communication skills.

Education:
Required: Two years college with courses in accounting, business, or equivalent experience.
Preferred: Bachelor' s degree in accounting, business, or related field.

Experience:
Two years related work experience required. Three years experience preferred. Additional education may be substituted for experience. Proficiency in the use of software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and/ or word processing required.
