Chemical Production Operator
Kenosha, WI 53144
Disassembles, packs, labels, and ships standard & special materials and equipment, including wastewater treatment units and chemicals.
Mixes chemicals per process instructions and fills drums. Completes computerized shipping documents, including bill of lading, labels, packing lists, and export documents for sales orders. Loads and unloads shipping and receiving goods and materials using a forklift or shipping area equipment. Monitors and replenishes chemical inventory, ordering chemicals to assure availability for timely shipment. Confirms any special shipping instructions with project coordinator, including shipping status, chemicals included, space requirements and packing details. Identifies areas of quality and/or productivity improvement and reports them to management for trial with necessary approvals.
Maintains shipping area equipment. Logs incoming and outgoing materials, maintains records as required. Attends weekly shipping team meetings and assists in planning future shipment needs. Responsible for complying with hazardous materials regulations as outlined during in-house certification training.
Performs other duties as directed by Management. Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Normally acquired by completing a high school education.
Knowledge of packing techniques for all materials, including heavy equipment and chemicals. Operation of forklift, truck loading, regulation and traffic duties. Normally acquired through 6 - 12 month on-the-job experience.
Interpersonal skills necessary to work with other departments, outside truckers. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize work, and pay attention to detail with minimal supervision while meeting pre-determined deadlines. Computer experience including Microsoft Word & Excel programs. Manual motor skills required to operate shipping area equipment in a safe manner. Physical strength required for occasional heavy lifting. Basic carpentry skills required for pallet and crate building. Assertive personality required at times to ensure on time shipment of sales orders. Hazardous materials training and forklift certification a plus. Work performed under normal plant environment with moderate exposure to dust, fumes, and noise. Ability to wear all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required; including but not limited to: ANSI certified face shield/goggles/glasses, respirator, gloves, safety shoes, etc. (as a Beckart employee these are either provided or associates are reimbursed).
